Up until recently, type 1 diabetes was the most prevalent kind in kids and teenagers. Juvenile diabetes was the term for it. Insulin is not produced by the pancreas in people with Type 1 diabetes. The hormone insulin facilitates the entry of glucose, sometimes known as sugar, into your cells to provide them with energy. The blood has too much sugar when insulin is absent. Type 2 diabetes is now also affecting younger people. Adult-onset diabetes was the previous term for type 2 diabetes. But as obesity rates rise, it is increasingly more prevalent in kids and teenagers. Insulin is poorly produced and used by the body in people with Type 2 diabetes. If a child is obese or overweight, has a family history of diabetes, or is not physically active, they are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
